Over at Marianne's parents place the other day I noticed this in a book of business cards her Mom was flipping through and took a shine to it. The style looks like it's actually 'real' retro as opposed to 'retro' retro. Her mom didn't remember when she got it, but pointed out that it had been long enough ago for the phone number to change because she had written down a new one in pen:

I read your post from last year (or so) about the "fragrant snowplow and revenge 'issue'" you had. I liked your illustrations and hope you'll do a picture book... I reminded me of A caldecott winner from the 4o's.
Hope you are warmer this year... and have a more benevolent plough-person.

Glad you enjoyed the snowplough story. There was a series of posts I did last year that I modelled after the short humorous illustrated pieces of Robert Benchley and Gluyas Williams so that's probably where you're getting the 40's feel. A picture book would be fun- but I've always felt I should wait until I have kids to try that. One of those stupid probably not really necessary 'rules' I set for myself.

We own a house now and share a driveway with a very nice neighbour who has a Snow Blower- so I guess I do have a more benevolent plough-person. And I'm warmer- Mainly cuz it's so bloody cold out that I never leave the house!

Thanks for dropping by Sultry and Tania.
